FAIP is engaged in a variety of activities throughout the United States, including:

Education: Encouraging water safety through signs, public information and publications.

Legislation: The FAIP was instrumental in the creation of a registry of aquatic injuries in Michigan, to pinpoint trouble spots so that educational efforts can target these areas and prevent further drownings.

Support for Victims & Families: FAIP provides an informational exchange and a forum for families struck by tragedy. Families of victims are encouraged to talk to one-another, to share support and encouragement. Many families have worked with FAIP to help prevent future accidents.

Information: The FAIP through its website provides one of the Internet's most comprehensive informational resources on aquatic safety issues, including:

scuba diving, pool safety & maintenance, personal watercraft, water skiing, sailing, canoeing, white water rafting, personal flotation devices and grief counseling.
